What’s the difference between a Bikini wax and a Brazilian wax?

A Bikini wax removes hair from just inside the bikini line — ideal for beginners.
A Brazilian wax removes most pubic hair, leaving a small strip or triangle.

What is a Hollywood wax?

A Hollywood wax removes all pubic hair from the front, middle, and back — leaving the entire area completely smooth.

Do you wax around the buttocks?

Yes. This is often referred to as an Australian wax (down and under). It includes the Brazilian plus hair removal around the buttocks. This can be requested with a standard bikini wax for an additional charge. Many clients appreciate the clean, thorough result.

During a Brazilian, we wax the buttocks area by having you bring your knees to your chest — a quick, discreet method that ensures a smooth finish.

Are there any contraindications to waxing?

Yes. Waxing may not be suitable if you have:

• Active skin infections (e.g. herpes simplex, impetigo)
• Fungal infections (e.g. thrush, athlete’s foot in waxing area)
• Severe varicose veins in the treatment area
• Skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis (when inflamed or broken)
• Contagious diseases or undiagnosed rashes
• Sunburn or recent sun exposure (within 24–48 hours)
• Recent chemical peels or microdermabrasion on the area
• Very sensitive or broken skin
• Recent surgery or scar tissue less than 6 months old in the area
• Diabetes – Delayed healing and increased infection risk
• Pregnancy – Especially for intimate waxing (use caution and avoid in the first trimester unless client is comfortable and experienced with waxing)
• Blood thinning medication – Increased risk of bruising or bleeding
• Skin-sensitising medications (e.g. Roaccutane, Retin-A, steroid creams)
• Recent radiotherapy or chemotherapy

Who performs the waxing treatments?

All waxing treatments — including male and intimate waxing — are carried out by Sarah, a qualified therapist with over 4 years of specialist experience and thousands of waxes performed. This is a highly skilled treatment that requires both expertise and professionalism, and Sarah is considered an expert in the field.

I'm nervous — I've never had a Brazilian or Hollywood wax before. What should I expect?

We understand it can be nerve-wracking. Here's what happens:

• We ask that you shower before your appointment.
• You'll be taken to a clean, private, professional treatment room.
• Sarah will leave the room for you to undress and lie on the treatment bed, covering yourself with a towel.
• Only the necessary areas will be uncovered during the treatment, and Sarah will make you feel at ease throughout.
• You’ll be given an aftercare leaflet and all advice will be explained.

I've had a bad waxing experience before — how are you different?

Sarah takes pride in offering gentle, expert waxing services. With thousands of treatments completed for both men and women, she knows what works and what doesn’t. She works at a pace you're comfortable with, especially for first-time clients, and will stop at any time if you feel uncomfortable.

You're also welcome to bring someone along for support during your visit.

Will it hurt?

There is some discomfort — after all, we’re removing hair from the root — but many clients are surprised by how manageable it is. The first wax tends to be the most uncomfortable, especially if you've been shaving. After that, regrowth is softer and finer, making future waxes less painful.

Will I bruise?

Bruising is not normal but can happen if the skin isn’t supported correctly during waxing. It may also occur if you have a medical condition or are taking certain medications. If you experience bruising, please let us know.

Can I get a wax if I’m on my period?

Yes, you can. Just wear a tampon and please be freshly showered before your appointment. Keep in mind, sensitivity may be slightly heightened.

What will I wear during my wax?

You can keep your underwear on for a basic bikini wax. A towel will be used to keep you as covered as possible. For Brazilian or Hollywood waxing, the full area needs to be exposed, but we do this discreetly and professionally.

How long should my hair be before waxing?

Hair should be at least ¼ inch long (around the length of a grain of rice). The longer the better — please don’t shave or trim before your appointment.

How long will my wax last?

You may notice some regrowth after the first week, especially if you've shaved recently, as hair grows in cycles. After 2–3 sessions, most clients enjoy 4–6 weeks of smoothness. Hair regrowth typically becomes finer and slower over time.

Will I bleed?

Occasionally, a follicle may release a small drop of blood — this is normal and will be gone by the end of the session. We recommend using a soothing antiseptic cream on the area for a couple of days afterward.

Will waxing eventually stop hair growth?

Waxing doesn’t make hair stop growing completely, but it can thin it over time with regular treatments.

How can I get over the embarrassment of being waxed?
