If You Think First Aid Training Is All Bandages… Think Again
Most people hear “first aid” and think of bandages, plasters, and a box tucked away in a cupboard. In reality, first aid is a practical, lifesaving skill that gives people the confidence to act when it matters most. As a fitness instructor, massage therapist, and qualified first aid trainer based in Watton, Norfolk, I’ve seen how the right training transforms people. They come in unsure. They leave capable, calm, and ready to step in during an emergency.
Businesses across Norfolk, Suffolk, and Cambridgeshire rely on trained first aiders to keep their teams safe. The legal responsibilities are important, but the human side matters even more. When someone collapses, chokes, struggles to breathe, or goes into cardiac arrest, the first person on the scene is rarely a paramedic, nurse, or doctor. It’s usually a colleague. That colleague needs to know exactly what to do.
My first aid courses are designed to make those moments less frightening. Everything is hands-on, simple to understand, and focused on real-world scenarios. No jargon. No pressure. Just practical skills that anyone can learn.
I offer a full range of Ofqual regulated NUCO Level 3 qualifications, including Emergency First Aid at Work (1 day), First Aid at Work (3 day), First Aid at Work Requalification (2 day), Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an AED (3 hours), and CPR and AED Training (1 day). There’s also a First Aid Annual Refresher for existing first aiders who want to stay sharp and up to date.
Every course includes plenty of practice. Depending on the course, we look at CPR, the recovery position, working with defibrillators, managing burns, bleeding, breathing difficulties, shock, seizures, and workplace injuries. The aim is to remove uncertainty and build real confidence. People tell me they feel more prepared not just at work but in day-to-day life.
Training doesn’t have to be stressful or overwhelming. My role is to make it clear, approachable, and supportive, whether I’m working with gym staff, office teams, warehouse staff, schools, or small local businesses. Flexibility matters too, so courses are delivered on site throughout Norfolk, with options available across Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.
If you want your team to feel capable, confident, and ready to respond in an emergency, first aid training is one of the most valuable steps you can take. It protects your people, strengthens your workplace culture, and provides recognised certification from an accredited, trusted trainer.
That’s the real heart of first aid. It isn’t just bandages. It’s peace of mind.
